Abstract
Wang Yangming was an outstanding scholar of traditional Chinese culture. This lecture explores his profound investigation of human spiritual activity, his assimilation and transformation of the thought of Zhu Xi, and the significance of his key concepts—“the extension of innate knowledge (致良知)”, “nothing exists outside the mind(心外无物)”, “there is no principle outside the mind(心外无理)”, and “the unity of knowledge and action(知行合一)”. Through these discussions, the lecture seeks to explain the reasons behind Wang Yangming’s remarkable intellectual achievements.
