International Collaboration

Internationalization not only makes our pedagogical programs more valuable and attractive but also broadens our range of philosophical research. Hundreds of eminent philosophers from all over the world are invited to give lectures or teach intensive courses in the past years. After years of teaching experiences, some senior philosophers, such as Prof. Thomas Rockmore, Prof. Roger Ames and Prof. TU Weiming chose to stay in China and join us as the Humanities Chair Professors of PKU. Some philosophers, like Prof. John Marenbon, are invited to teach regular courses here as visiting professors. Other young academics, such as Prof. Rainer Schäfer and Prof. John Maier, came to teach as faculty members for a few years. Because of the wonderful efforts of the international faculty members and guest professors, more and more English courses are included in the curriculum. In the meanwhile, new teaching areas are also introduced and developed.

While continuing our close collaboration with international peers, we are also developing a cross-disciplinary cooperation with other research institutes, such as the Center for the Future of Intelligence (CFI) in University of Cambridge. This way, we would like to contribute to the philosophical debate facing global challenges by adapting the cutting-edge technologies.

The Dept. of Philosophy here is still in the early phase of internationalization. We are looking forward to more cooperation with leading philosophical institutes in the world. Both senior and junior philosophers are welcomed to work with us for the development of incomparable philosophical future by the Wei-Ming Lake.
