Abstract:

In this presentation, I combine Afro-communitarian ethics with a cognitive perspective to argue that certain Al systems can possess moral status, provided they can act as both subjects and objects of communion. Furthermore, I propose that different types of Al hold varying degrees of moral status, directly depending on their specific communal capacities.
